Remember December?
There is absolutely no need to freak out, people. Just because my blog hasn’t been updated doesn’t mean I have been murdered by that guy from the dog beach or run off to live in a hammock somewhere—I’ve just been mad-crazy busy.
December seemed to have passed me by in a flash, so let’s do a quick little recap so we can both remember what the hell happened.

"Rachie-Face" Reflects
I spent much of today thinking about all the mistakes I have made and all the ridiculous things I’ve said and done to myself and to others—and believe me, this kind of reflection takes more than a day to complete.
Thankfully GM came on the scene to remind me or something awesome he and I both did: Broke up with the same large-mouthed girl, at the same restaurant, six months apart.
It...

Day 4: Cold enough for a sweater.
The three sets towels in my single-king-20th-floor room in NYC makes me think I should be having a bit more fun tonight…

Day Three: Laser Eyes on the Couch
Literally ran past the windows at Bergdorf. Beautiful as always!

Let’s not forget that today is Pearl Harbor Day. I know my grandfather would have reminded me if he was still alive. I noticed the flags at half-mast today and respectfully held in my mind, the memory of the men, women and children, who died that day, and the days of retaliation which followed.
And then, honestly, I pulled up to a Starbucks and immediately forgot about it.

Speaking of Miami...
… Art Basel Miami Beach just occurred, which surely you realize. Perhaps you were even there. I was not. I narrowly missed all the fun of the “most important art show in the country” and have heard only a few tales from a handful of you attendees, who seemed to have been too busy to have even enjoyed it.
For them, for me, and for you, here are some highlights from...

Backlog: Miami Beach
Oh right, I nearly forgot to mention what a great time I had in Miami the other weekend. Now that I’m wrapped up in blankets in a Greenwich Bed and Breakfast, warm memories of sunny Florida swim in my wind-chapped brain.
Since my first trip to Miami Beach about twenty years go, the vibrant city has had an enduring place in my heart. The food, the parties, the light, the heat, the cars,...

Photo Project: An Arlo a Day
While I’m traveling for the next two weeks, I’ve asked SG, who is watching the schnauzer, to send a daily photo. We’re only up to day two, but I know you’re dying to see his fuzzy muzzle.
Snoozing in his bed while running errands with SG
Laser Eyes! Wrapped up in a blanket, enduring the record-cold temperatures this week.
CB Visits Me
… and then he blogs about it on Icarus Grits:
A wonderful four days with RG in Naples, possibly the most paradisiacal city I’ve ever seen. Even if it doesn’t have a Morrison’s.
Some quotes I’ll never forget:
This road goes from Tampa to Miami, right through the internet.
—RG, describing the route home from the airport, meaning “The Everglades”.
